Abstract art object CLOUD is a one of a kind piece that seamlessly blends contemporary design with the rustic charm of ancient artifacts. This original artwork combines traditional woodworking techniques with innovative manufacturing processes like CNC machining. Inspired by organic shapes and geometry, it carries a unique, bold, and stark silhouette.

The CLOUD vase is made from recycled wood fibreboard (MDF) and reclaimed chestnut wood, finished with several layers of a unique blend of multiple color dyes and varnish. The result is a worn-out texture, very tactile, featuring deep tones of green and rusty orange patina. This distressed appearance evokes the nostalgia of ancient artifacts while embracing contemporary design.

CLOUD blurs the boundaries between art, design and craft, a unique handcrafted piece that is able to hold natural flowers, dried flowers, or... absolutely nothing and simply stand alone as a decorative arts piece.

• Dimensions: 25 x 28cm (10 x 11 in)

• Craft and materials:

1 - Selection of Wood (reclaimed): Each piece of wood is carefully selected for its unique grain and texture, ensuring that every volume has its own distinct character.

2 - Preparation and Shaping: To carve each part, I use a CNC machine, to assure an accurate replication of my original design.

3 - Hand-Finishing: Each piece is hand-finished, a process that involves careful sanding to achieve a smooth surface. This step highlights the wood natural texture.

4 - Water-Based Dye Application: Using water-based dyes, the recycled wood fibreboard is hand-dyed in a way that enhances its original texture. This eco-friendly approach not only adds vibrant hues but also ensures that all textures remains visible and tactile.

5 - Varnishing: A special varnish is applied to protect the wood. This varnish is also water-based, aligning with the environmentally conscious ethos of the artwork.

6 - Assembly and polishing: Finally, the colored and varnished parts are carefuly assembled using dowel-joint joinery techniques. Everything is carefuly polished to obtain a refined surface and give it a subtle sheen.
