EYECONIC

A sculptural wink at the pursuit of the iconic.

EYECONIC is a wall-mounted piece that playfully merges form and reflection. A stylized eye emerges from the base of a matte black cone. The name itself is a phonetic twist:
eye + conic = EYECONIC — echoing the word "iconic" while gently teasing the weight we place on that word.

Across the arts, there’s often an unspoken obsession with creating something iconic. I felt it too, especially in the early stages of my career in industrial design. That longing to make a mark, to distill essence into form. Over time, I’ve come to believe that iconicity isn’t something we chase; it’s something that may (or may not) happen, independent of effort or intent.

EYECONIC is a tender nod to that earlier self — the one who searched earnestly, who believed the iconic could be summoned through discipline and desire. That search shaped me. It demanded rigor, sincerity, and a hopeful intensity I now regard with affection.

This piece doesn’t claim to be iconic. It simply is — a quiet gesture, a humorous glance, a cone with an eye.
